  1. The ability to feel what another is feeling without pity or judgement.

  3. An old Star Trek episode called the empath. That person could feel what others were feeling around them. And could take away their pain.

  13. Having a little compassion for what the other person may be going through, even thou you may not understand it you will give undying support. Give an ear to listen to, and try to be understanding in any way that you can. Unless you are in their situation, you will never fully comprehend, and unless you walk a mile in their shoes, you do not have the right to judge or ridicule. Be patient and understanding, and let them rant and rave and cry and have a pity party if they want. Be a friend and a shoulder to cry on. Just be there for support. Friend or relatives take note. Some day you may be in the same situation, and it will hit you like  De Ja Vu!!!!

  14. To be able to feel the emotions of someone else, regardless of what the reason is. It's impossible to feel empathy unless you have experienced what the other person is experiencing.

    Sympathy is something else. It is the ability to TRY to feel what the other person is experiencing. Sympathy is when you truly try to imagine what the other person must be going through.
