What comes with using an NTFS file system?

I'd like to know the advantages (and disadvantages) of using an NTFS file system for an external HD. I'm planning to use it for extra storage, not to install another OS.

  1. well you dont have any choices!! many years ago (and still ) you could choose from fat and ntfs. the major difference if that if you have fat you can not share info of your computer with any other pc/user. ntfs is more developed on that and it is actually your only choice.. for all the details http://cquirke.mvps.org/ntfs.htm ..  


  2. For removable disks that can be disconnected or ejected unexpectedly, you must use FAT16 or FAT32.

  3. NTFS is better for putting videos on it
