  1. Oil tools. Oil explorers. Howard Hughes made a mint.


  2. Apparently ocean shipping companies. My father worked throughout the Great Depression as a merchant seaman. One firm had enough money in the till to send him from Germany to Argentina on the Graf Zeppelin to catch another of that firm's ships.

  3. Bank robbers enjoyed the status of modern day Robin Hoods, and train robbers to a lesser extent- this time around, I believe the the robbers of oil companies will enjoy folk hero status.

  4. One company that came out of the Depression, better than when they went in, was Nash Motors. It made up a part of what came to be known as  American Motors.

  5. Health-care is the safest career for the next 30 years with the aging boomer population.
