What companies other than BT and Virgin can connect a phone line in my home?

I moved into a new house where I don't have phone line or even slots to connect the phone.

Virgin doesn't have cables in our area and BT are asking for £125 standard charge to connect the line and then they will ask for extra to do the work inside the house.

Do you know any other companies or service providers that can provide a home phone without the need for BT number first?

  1. Kingston Communications

  2. Any telephone provider has the ability to set up a line for you through openreach engineers which has part of a regulation made by ofcom BT had to give up the openreach brand and allow other companies access to the exchange.

Companies like talk talk, sky and the post office are able to connect the line through openreach if they wish.

But alot of these decide not to do it because it can be too much hassle for them.

They rather tell customers to go to BT to connect the line and allow BT  to tell the customer of the charge for connection.(makes BT look bad)

unfortunately because it is openreach who connect the line not BT or Talk Talk etc openreach are the ones that charge you via the chosen service provider.

  3. Unfortunately Draytondon has got it exactly right.  If the line needs to be connected then it HAS to be done by BT themselves  so no matter who you go through the charge will still apply.

  4. Regardless of your supplier the actual activation has to be by BT I believe? which means paying them!

  5. Tesco, Talk Talk, Sky
