What company made a car called the Bobcat?

I remember years and years ago when I was a kid, my father had a car called a Bobcat. It was a rusted out hunk of junk, but I have lots fond memories such as the winter with no heat (we lived in upstate NY) and being stranded on the side of the road when it ran out of gas:)

I wanted to know who made that car? I want to say it was American made but I could be wrong.

I too have Vague memories of the Bobcat. I think it was the Mercury version of the Pinto.

Mercury, it was their version of the Ford Pinto.
