Armalite invented the AR-15, but i think Rock River Arms takes the cake.

The army uses Colt as the MFG of their M16, for awhile they used FN. I'm a firm believer in sticking with the originator, in this case its Armalite.

there is no "one" best, but there are several who are top quality like DPMS, STAG,Olympic arms, Colt, S&W just to name a few. As far as kit guns, I think the best kit comes from MANDPARTS.COM I have built AR rifles from sevreal of the manufacturers and I  like theirs the best by far. They come with the upper assembled using top quality parts and the heavy match barrel is already installed and headspaced which saves me a lot if time and effort. I have not yet found one single defective or poor quality part from them.

for the money S&W makes a good AR... Stag used to make some of their parts.

Colt...you pay extra for the brand

There are a couple of cheaper brands out there...

Unless you shoot 1000's of rounds or are a bona fide merc any of the big names will do you well... just make sure your pricing apples to apples ... variations and options abound in the AR world

Century Arms has a bunch of Isreali surplus M!6 they de-milled on the market... for a truck gun they are OK.

If your handy you can build an really nice AR anyway you like it..parts, lowers and uppers abound... simple enough with basic tools

Colt makes the best lowers. RRA makes one of the best trigger assemblies. HK Makes the best uppers. KAC makes some of the best BUIS. If you had alot of money to use all of the "best" premium parts, you would find that probably no two were made by the same company.

There really is no best..... Rock River Arms offers features that DPMS doesn't and the other way around....  If you want an Arctic Panther type AR15 then you have to go to DPMS.....  On the other hand Rock River offers rifles that have features the DPMS's dont.....

Both company's as well as Bushmaster, Stag, DoubleStar or Olympic Arms make an excellent product.... It just depends on what features you want...
