Hikmat Surya Permana is correct, or almost correct.  I agree that you can scan it in with scanning software Adobe Photoshop is configured to work with is the best way to get your picture into the computer and work with it.

Once it's in there, my preferences are quite different from his.  If you are a professional, then Quark Xpress is a good POWERFUL program which will make your cover very effective.  If you know how to use it.

If you are not a professional, rather than going to Adobe Illustrator I would choose the Open Source program Inkscape.  The interface is SLIGHTLY simpler than Illustrator's (which admittedly is not saying much) since it was essentially designed by and for engineers, it can be more powerful and flexible allowing the same tools to provide a broader variety of effects and you can export files in eps,   illustrator svg and other printable formats.  Download it for free at:

But Photoshop for making the picture look nice first.  Not gimp -- your print shop will never forgive you.

  3. The best designer is Corel Draw

  4. Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.

  5. Photoshop and Illustrator. Illustrator is for vector (scalable) graphics, and you can "clean" your drawing (or remember any derbies of the scanning), and Photoshop is for raster (fixed sized) graphics, and has many useful algorithms to make your drawing pretty.
