  1. try to assemble it your own. i prefer this than a prebuilt because you can choose all the parts you want.

    -intel q6600

-msi/gigabyte/asus board with p35/x38/x48/p45 chipset (i recommend msi p45 platinum)

-corsair/crucial/kingston mems ddr2 800 (1066 if your into overclocking and pick a performance ram)

-ati 4850 or nvidia 9800GT/gtx (ati is better this time)

    - a decent powersupply like corsair hx620

    -320GB hard disk sata

-sata dvd-rw from LG or liteon

    - a decent case like coolermaster/antec 300/gigabyte 3d aurora

    - 19"-22" lcd widescreen

  2. To get exactly what you want, you should try building a couple PC's at Dell.com

I really think Dell makes the most quality computers, except apple, but I was windows raised.

If you don't want dell, there are some pretty good deals at best buy and circuit city within that price range with quad cores and lots of ram, but you would need to buy a new graphics card because they either have integrated Intel graphics or a S****y card.
