  2. I'm not entirely sure which results you are referring to, but James Chadwick is known for his discovery of the neutron.  He discovered that a neutral particle beam was the only way to interpret the ejection of protons.  This lead to the discovery of the neutron.  

    He also proved that the spectrum of beta particles emitted by radioactive elements was continuous.
