We live in Nova Scotia, and we're just wondering what the recommended psi for a concrete slab would be for our backyard?

  1. Since you are in an area where freezing and thawing take place, I would recommend a minimum of 4000 psi.  Also make sure it's air-entrained and has a water to cement ratio of 0.45 or lower.  Lastly, try to avoid a steel trowel finish, as this type of finish is prone to delamination under your conditions (a simple broom finish is best).

  2. we have the same conditions here and 3500 lbs. will be plenty strong...add air and fiber...a good base is more important than a few pounds of strength one way or the other...

  3. 3,000 PSI consdering your freeze / thaw possibilities.
