always panicking over the slightest thing like not being able to find a parking space straight away, and taking it out on others around her, is negative about everything, slow minded, talks in a loud shrill voice, and yesterday she showed me a joke in the newspaper for old paper, showing old people climbing trees and having a snowball fight with the caption "never to old to climb trees or have a snowball fight", asking me if I had a sense of humour and did I find them hysterical. I said they weren't that funny, just something lighthearted to smile at. She said they were very, very funny and I didn't have a sense of humour. I felt threatened because she was being wierd but was accusing me of being wierd because I didn't find that simple joke hilarious. That made me feel alone because there was noone else in the room to say, no, jokes like that are not meant to be hysterically funny, they're just light entertainment, and if you think they are there must be something wrong with you, but it was just me and her so I felt trapped and alone, in a world with a mother who is on another planet, and no witnesses. This happens all the time. What condition could she have?

  1. Schizophrenia comes to mind, however only a licensed psychologist who does the proper type of testing can diagnose that.

  2. There is a possibility your mother is suffering from anxiety dissorder or depression, if you have another family member you can talk to about this it may help you to get some answers.. You may want to ask about family history about depression or anxiety.  If you go to church you could talk to your father there or even maybe one of your moms freinds to see what they may think, and remember what she is going through has nothing to do with you as a person, it is something that she needs to work on and she may not even know she is doing these things. Good luck and keep your head up high and focus on doing good.
