[In a ideal situation the hardy-weinberg equilibrum describes how various alleles reach a stable point where thier frequencies do not change with each generation.]

    2. - no gene flow

    3. - no genetic drift

    4. - random mating

    5. - no natural selection

    If any of these 5 conditions are violated then alleles will be lost or new ones introduced or appear thus changing the equilibrium allele frequencies.
