What conditions were there aboard the slave ship??

there was a stench when they were in the cargo deck and people did because of the stench and hot air.

  1. Look at the diagram of a slave ship below. The slaves were literally packed in the ship like sardines.

  3. The passengers were quite comfortable, and were excited about the prospects of making new friends and developing new career opportunities.

  4. Awful! They were stacked on top of one another in layers and had to just defecate on top of each other. It was as worse than you can possibly imagine.  

  5. There was little food or water, and people died every day.  On an average trip, about half the slaves died.  They were piled up in the cargo hold (much like the Jewish concentration camps in WWI but with even less room).  They would pass up the dead each morning.  There were no showers or even sponging available, and they were mostly naked.
