For example the Magna Carta and John Locke both gave something that the founding fathers borrowed in the creation of the U.S. Constitution. So what else contributed to the constitution and how?

  1. The most important document that contributed to the Constitution was the Mayflower Compact. The Articles of Confederation, just before the Constitution, and the Virginia Company articles also contributed, but the main one was the Mayflower Compact.

If you haven't already, read it. I have both the original version and the modern English version. Reading it is enlightening.

  2. The ideas of John Locke are reflected in the Bill of Rights, especially the due process clause of the Fifth Amendment.  Montesquieu came up with the idea for three coequal branches of government in 1748, which surely some the Framers would have considered!
