What contributions do you think a well-run camp can make to children?

I am filling out an application to be a couselor in training at a summer camp this year, and I need some help with this one question. Thanks to all who respond!

  1. If the camp is well-run and not unorganized and there is no chaos chances are the children wont notice how organized the camp is. They will be able to learn what main skills the camp is offering.  They will be able to go perform each task that is scheduled without having to wait for the camp to get their act together.  They will be able to be productive.


  2. It helps the children with their social skills, teaches them to follow rules, work as a group, respect each other

  3. It broadens their horizons and exposes them to new and different experiences/learning opportunities. My children would never learn to swim if I had to teach them, because the bathtub is too small. At camp, however, they learned in the pool!

    The downside is, sometimes they learn "new words" at camp that they didn't learn at home...
