It depends on what connectors they both have in common.

A fairly high numbers of tvs have a pc input for which you would probably need a male to male vga cable.

Or your pc might have a hdmi, dvi or component video output which your tv would probably have the hdmi or component.

there is also a dvi to hdmi converter cable if you have dvi on the computer and hdmi on the tv.
