  1. SUV and Trucks are more expensive to operate than your mustang and the insurance is about the same. Any luxury car is going to cost you more for insurance and because of their size will probably get only slightly better gas milage. Stick with your Mustang but just keep your foot off the gas pedal.

  2. A sedan should be the cheapest. Some companies are increasing premiums on trucks and SUV's as they cost the companies more in repairs to the cars they hit. Convertibles are always expensive to insure since the possibility of being killed in one if in a wreck is much higher due to being structurally weaker without a solid roof.

  3. A sedan would probably be the cheapest, but it depends on the make, model, etc. Generally speaking, the safest and cheapest cars are the cheapest to insure. So if you're looking for cheap insurance, I'd go for a  1984 Toyota Corolla. If you have a little more taste than that, a simple truck or SUV would still be far cheaper than your sports car. Sports cars are the most expensive to insure. Insurance is related to the value of the car, too, so the cheaper the car, the better. Volvo's and Mercedes-Benzes are the only two makes that are double-welded, and so because of that huge safety feature, they would theoretically be cheaper to insure. The problem with the Benz is that it's so expensive to fix, the insure will still be expensive. So you should go for a cheap Volvo probably for the cheapest insurance. Of course, the BIGGEST influence on your cost of insurance is your driving record and personal situation. Want a tip for a big cut in your insurance cost? Get married. They feel that married people are more responsible drivers so their insurance is much cheaper.

  4. A sedan or coupe would be the cheapest to insure for three reasons.

One, they normally are worth less so there is less cost to repair/replace.

Two, they would cause less damage to others in an accident.

    Three, lower likelihood of theft.

Convertibles are more expensive because they cost more because they are more expensive to repair and have a higher rate of theft.
