  1. basically everything turns to ice i think we could  be in one i wasnt having a holiday this year but ive been and booked

  2. Well to cause a bit of controversy, in geological terms an ice age is defined as when continental ice caps are present on earth, as they are right now on Greenland and Antartica. So enjoy it while it lasts! This one is known as the Quaternary ice age and began roughly 2.5 million yrs ago in the northern hemisphere.

However people generally use the term to refer to glacial phases (where the ice expands over 30% of the earths land surface, last one ended 10000 yrs ago) when we all become eskimos, talk to woolly mammoths and life's one big snowball fight etc.

  3. "How do we know its an Ice Age?  Why not call it the "Big Chill" or the "Nippy Era"?  I'm just sayin', how do we know its an Ice Age? ........"Because.....of all......the ICE!!!"......."Well, things just got a little chillier."   Sorry, I love that movie!

I would have to say NO, since all the ice caps and glaciers are melting and the earth in general is warmer than it was even 50 years ago.

  4. An Ice Age can be recognised by simple observations eg.

          *  obligatory skating and skiing to work and the shops

          *  no more light cotton shorts and shirts

          *  no demand for ice cream and ice lollies.

          *  a snowman in every garden

          *  penguins and seals trying to get into your kitchen

          *  the song, 'Quinn the Eskimo' rising to number one.

          *  mass emigration from the UK to Zimbabwe.

          *  Santa having to use a sat nav. at Christmas.

It hasn't happened in the UK yet!

  5. An Ice Age is when most of the world is dominated by chilling weather, and a lot of ice. It doesn't mean the whole Earth is covered in ice. In fact..in the last ice age, it was discovered to have places where no ice was even present.

And no, we aren't in an ice age, as it *seems* the Ice caps are melting.

  6. no we are not in one.
