What could I put in a 30 gal tank, any opinions or tips?

Im thinking of buying a tank with a price range of around 120-180 quid, anyone know of a good buy in the UK and any tips on hwat fish i should buy?

fresh water chiclids.  there's all kinds of types and they're pretty, yet aggresive!

Platies are really great.  I have 4 of them and they are really active and cool to watch.

I'm in the US, so I don't know any places to get them, but as far as stocking, I'd go with a small cichlid pair and some tetras or something in the top of the tank. Firemouths are good, you could maybe do convicts but if they breed (and they likely will) then they'll probably take out some of the smaller fish. You could perhaps do angels if the tank is sufficiently tall (I'd say over 20" tall) or curviceps, Rainbow, Ram, or other small cichlids.
