I recommend a bag of candy,a soda bottle,and maybe a cold slice of pizza i know sounds bad but is good

and if you bring a fresh hamburger or something they may smell it off you and no more movie!

Theater as in Cinema? Or a theater as in plays?

In the first case, it's forbidden to bring any food into it except the things for sale on the theater bar. If you get caught you're expelled, no money returned.

In the second case, it's very serious, NO ONE eats while watching a play, it's extremely rude and you will be kicked out and americans will increase its reputation in rudeness and stupidness, sorry to say...
