What could New York Jets’ LaDainian Tomlinson be possibly up to? Part 2
Continued from Part 1......
A lot of ambiguity exists over his future with New York Jets. There are indications that he no longer plans to stay with the team.
These indications became evident in his latest interview with Showtime’s “Inside The NFL”, in which he took come strides at Jets’ coach and general manager.
Tomlinson came out straight forward in hitting out at them by squarely blaming them for the way the Jets locker room was in.
"They created this. This is the type of football team that they wanted,” he had said.
That puts a serious question mark on his intentions whether he wants to stay with the Jets or not.
The coach and the GM have so far not responded to Tomlinson’s claims but surely it would not go easy out on them.
There was something else that Tomlinson had to say apart from just pinning the blame on the two men.
Tomlinson revealed that the tense environment in the locker room had been prevalent since week 3 or week 4.
The media had gained knowledge about the locker room situation only towards the end of the season after a feud between Jets’ quarterback, Mark Sanchez and Santonio Holmes became public.
The incident between Sanchez and Holmes has gained a lot of attention with the Jets’ owner, Woody Johnson recently downplaying the incident by saying that the two could co-exist with each other as they have been involved in winning games for the team and
they supported each other on the field. Johnson said that the situation could be addressed.
However, Tomlinson had a different account to give.
Tomlinson, who recently had supported Sanchez by disagreeing with the notion put up by some “anonymous” players that Sanchez was “lazy”, termed the rift between Sanchez and Holmes to be a serious one.
"I've been around some locker rooms and quarterback-receiver situations and what not, but it was as bad as I've been around," Tomlinson said.
This point of view was quite different from his early suggestions in which he had downplayed the differences in locker room.
Tomlinson had then said that tensions would no doubt be high in the locker room when there were “53 strong personalities” out there while speaking of the need to showing respect towards each other in order to get along.
Now it seems that his tone has changed as he goes about publicizing the affairs of his team mates.
That surely looks like as if he does not intend to stay with the Jets anymore. That explains why he came up with a bold stance about his coach, general manager and his teammates.
This is not to suggest that Tomlinson may be having any issues with Sanchez. He has defended him in the past but suggested that the quarterback was a bit “pampered” as he did not have any competition around him and called for a backup in order to boost his
performance.
“He has no real threat to say this guy may take my job,” Tomlinson said.
However, he does seemingly have a problem with the coach and general manager whom he has criticised in the public.
That could well jeopardize his career with the Jets even though he may himself opt out for another team too.
Tomlinson has 13,684 yards of rushing to his credit in his career and this season he rushed for 280 yards.
