What could a bunch of seriously sugar-y girls do in a field of flowers?

Im trying to write a modern version of this:

"The girls were wandering in the vast field, picking flowers"

Now, think about it this way: A bunch of 19-25 year old young women will definitely not be picking flowers in a field in this era. What else could they be doing?

I go with texting. This is the era of technology bring people closer. A group of girls in a wonderful field of flowers might text a friend sick at home, or a friend, or maybe send some photos (s**y or otherwise to some boys they know).

Go walk in the country side, make it to the top of the a tall mountain and what do people do, send text messages.

You didn't tell us anything about these girls.

Hippy girls would be picking flowers. Or maybe one has read about Persian Salems (flower messages) and wants to collect a variety of flowers to send a traditional flower message.

This could be the field where they have planted some of the good weed (pot) and are going to get some leaves for a cookie bake.

Maybe they are going from one place to another, if it is the countryside. Eg, going to a creek for a swim.

Perhaps they are taking cool photos amongst the flowers to post on their facebook/myspace pages.

Maybe they are all catholic and they killed their abusive priest and buried him in this field and are going back to deal with their bad memories.
