  1. Great!! You're helping stop global warming.  Well a few ideas would be:

-Recycle anything possible you can recycle

-When its a short distance, walk there or take a bike, don't use the car

-Buy items that are trying to help the envirement

-Convince others it is important to do this

Just think of how much waste you'll save after you do this for a long time

  2. Is your group getting smaller?

Even a single person can do something to reduce greenhouse gases and I assume that's what you mean. Beef production leans to increased methane emissions while rice production can increase both methane and nitrous oxide emissions, so if you stop eating either of those foods then gradually production will decline along with the emissions they cause. Both of these are much more potent as greenhouse gases than CO2, see the link.

As for CO2 the answer is easier. Walk when you can instead of driving, ride a bike if it's too far, at least drive a hybrid or high-mpg car. Take a train or bus for longer distances and don't fly as much as our former vice president does. Plant trees since they absorb CO2 and keep it locked away for their lifetimes, but they also emit methane that may offset the CO2 reduction.

Recycling also helps since virgin materials don't need to be used, but some recycling actually takes more energy than making from new material and it's often not cost effective. Also, on warm days use a fan, dress lightly or go swimming to reduce the use of AC, on cold days dress warmer and leave the thermostat down at 68 or lower. You can reduce electricity usage with compact fluorescent bulbs but the mercury they contain may be a problem when they eventually break if they end up in a landfill.

  3. Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has. - Margaret Mead...

Good luck...  The obvious answers would be dont' drive, don't waste, don't this, don't that, but the motivation comes first.

  5. Think globally - act locally is a common catchcry. The best action for a small group is to instigate positive change. Like a "virus" which catches. Perhaps make an active advocacy of what they are doing to reduce global warming and spread it among their friends and family. You could for example offer to save someones power bill by 20% - just by doing a power audit and switching unused appliances off, in return that they help another person to save on their power bill, or a similar green initiative.

    Car pooling?

    Improved recycling and reuse program.

Undertake to plant 3 trees, and give away heaps of tree seeds and seedlings as gifts to plant out.

Switch deodorant from aerosol to squirter pump spray or roll on or similar.

You can see there are many ways to have an effect - the big thing is to get others enthusiatic about what your doing and inspire them.

  6. make a sign that has to do with the earth, global warming and the go green thing. put put GIANT posters give out flyers put stuff in mailbox (pins, flyers, tips to stop global warming etc.) pick up trash and others.

  7. never doubt it. its a good start. It all starts with one person taking a stand.  a little goes a long way. all these little things we are doing now .. will add up. i mean its not huge, but hey, its a start.

  8. Nothing! Global Warming is a natural occurring phenomena. Mankind does not cause it, nor can mankind stop it!
