  1. when you get your capacitor and fan checked and or replaced make sure the clean condenser coil  thats why your cap and or fan went out

  2. it could be a bad start capacitor for the fan, BUT, the awful sound part isnt good. more than likely your outdoor fan is shot. what you are hearing is overheated shot fan bearings. when you reaplce the fan, put in a new capacitor too, just to be safe. GL with it!

  3. Ummm...your air conditioner is not working.   You'll need to have an HVAC company come out & repair or replace the condensing unit  (the big box outside with the fan that doesn't turn)

  4. This sounds like your fan motor has gone bad.. This is one of the cheaper fixes but it will cost about $250.00  for parts and labor, the price  depend on make of unit and your area,  to replace fan motor.  You need to call technician to come check it out.  If it was mine I would  turn off all power to AC unit and spray shaft of fan motor with WD 40, little bit goes long way.  The grease may be dried out.

  5. You may not need to replace the whole unit.  Maybe just the capacitor or the fan motor.  Check your breaker of fuse box too.
