What could be a competitive advantage for my Accounting business?

Question

There are a lot of accounting businesses out there. What could I do (besides excellent customer service) to set my company apart from all the others?

My target market is small businesses, but I will be doing taxes for individuals as well.

One good way would be to target a specific market, more narrow than small businesses.  For example, if you try to get a lot of clients in the medical field you could focus a lot of your time and energy on the specific rules for that industry.  You could find the best ways for your clients to get the most deductions.  Then you would start to be known as a great person to do medical taxes.  

Another way would be to offer quick service.  Not necessarily for preparing returns, but just to have time to meet with clients.

Your business will grow by maintaining and enhancing the reputaion of your firm. Keep you technical skills sharo by taking courses and attending seminars. You could try advertising, but word of mouth is really the best advertising. I have heard of tax businesses going into municapal audits during the summer season to keep there staff busy and develop another revenue stream.
