What could be causing my car to make this noise? Very weird

I have a 1993 Nissan Altima and it is making a very weird noise. I have never heard a car make this sound before and I have driven a lot of cars. Anyway when I started it this morning it started making a tapping then a kind of a squeaky noise like when you are cleaning glass and it is very clean. Its really weird because it sounds like it is coming form the inside of the car near the radio and heater area. It knocks in a pattern 7 knocks and then the squeaky noise. It is really loud. It is not the radio. Any idea's it is driving me crazy. The car seems to be running fine no problem except that horrible noise. Please help! Thanks

what else do you expect, it's a nissan with a women behind the wheel, the car probably wants to be scrapped

I think that your mufflers damaged maybe.

One of the pullies( circular shaped objects on the side of the motor block) is seizing up, which is making the knocking noise.  The belt on the pullies is slipping when they seize up and that makes the squeaking noise.  You need to replace one of the pullies.

Edited:  No, it isn't.  It'll take about 30 to 45 minutes, if it is easy to get at.  A little longer, if it is difficult.  Also, because your have an older car, it would be cheaper to get a used pully, instead of a new one.  But get a new belt as well.  It shouldn't be any more than $200 parts and labor.

possible heater- air conditioner blower motor. did you have the defroster or the a/c on? if so that is probably the noise. on some cars it is on all of the time

You would have to pop the hood and have someone start it and you see where the noise is coming from. It's not that hard I promise. E-mail me a picture if you figure it out where the noise is coming from.

Could be the water pump. The squeeking is probably the belts.
