  1. Water valves in appliances can start to fail and cause this problem you talk about, I have seen d/w water valves do this a lot. If this problem has just started I would look at the appliances more than the plumbing. Note that when you hear that noise if it is caused by an appliance it  is letting water into the appliance and will flood if you do not stop it. Way to find out if it is the appliances causing the problem is turn off the water supply to them for a while and see if the noise does stop.

  2. i had banging noises in my hoose...only when flushing....... cause was the diaphragm in cistern..got it replaced problem solved

  3. It's caused by water sloshing around in the pipes. I think they call it hammering. We used to have it in a house we lived in. We just secured the pipes more to the floor joices in the house and it was fine for us, but it was just a rental house. You may want to talk to a plumber about a better way to fix it.

  4. Yes it is air in your lines you need to have a plumber or good handyman intall air chambers into your lines at various places it will solve the problem. If you want to do it yourselve get advice from your local hardware store it will save you some serious jack.

  5. This is most likely water hammer caused by sudden flow of water  through the pipes...you can try placing a pressure regulator on the house supply or  you can buy devices that look like capsules that you put in line with your water line at the washing machine, toilet etc and these prevent water hammer. Also its worth looking at your water line to make sure it is secured properly.

  6. look into scale - mineral build-up in the pipes that reduce water flow and cause the pipes to vibrate.

  7. Air.
