It really helps and probably PREVENTS abuse by loving oneself, accepting that NO ONE deserves to be abused. When we are self supporting, not depending on anyone else for our happiness or financial security, we tend not to put up with c**p.  We wont draw abusers into our lives.  This is how the universe works...we attract what we think.

Get out as fast  as you can. you could try canceling and make sure some body know what's happering in case of an emergency.
