Question:

What could be making these holes on my clothes, my washer or dryer?

They are the size of a child's bite. It is the second time that it happens after I do laundry. I don't know if it could be my washer or the dryer.

  1. The bite mark shape is strange. I have had clothing get little holes in it before from zippers. Those little zipper teeth like to bite in the washer, they are especially fond of new favorite/expensive clothes. So always zip your zippers up before washing. And never wash things like hooded sweater shirts or cardigans with zippers with anything other than tough stuff like denim because they come unzipped during the wash.

As for which machine, check your clothing when removing it from the washer for holes, and again when you remove it from the dryer.

  2. Your detergent and wear is most likely cause!

  3. Bleach, Agaition speed, To much heat

  4. It looks to me like what I had happen with my daughters vinyl training pants except being vinyl it made holes it happened in the dryer they were getting caught between the "fins" in the drum and the edge.  the heat accumulated and melted a hole on the vinyl but the edges look like your "bite" marks so I would think its just the difference in fabric why its not a hole for you.

  5. From the look of the photos, I would say that the clothing is being pinched - most likely in the dryer because if it was the washer, the area wouldn't appear so wrinkled.  Start with the washer - remove the agitator from the washing machine and check for items that might be lodged underneath that could be snagging the clothing during the cycle.  Also check the agitator itself for rough edges.  If you don't find anything there, check the inside of the dryer drum for the same, and always make sure your clothes are completely in the dryer before closing the door.

  6. Just thinking, a dryer tumbles your clothes, while a washer spins. Gravity, water and other clothes, could potentially keep pressure and agitate one more than others. You may be overloading washer, therefore clothes get pinched and stretched by others, because they are not moving freely. Based on physics, I hardly doubt a dryer could damage clothes, other than by shrinking them.
