my knee started to get sore on my duke of edinburgh silver expedition so a long walking trip. it's my right knee and it is sore on the side closest to my other leg around my knee cap. i went to see a doctor but she said just to rest it but couldn't as was going on jungle trekking trip the next day. it only bothered me occasionally and it wasn't visibly swollen. one of my friends had a similar problem and was told it was swollen where her tendons go into her knee was wondering if it could be a similar problem. the pain disappeared until last week when i was sailing and dragging boats up the beach. it is now sore to put pressure on the inside edge of my knee cap and i have a dull ache when i walk where as last time it was only sore when i walked down hill or down stairs. please help. i play a lot of badminton so i need to know whats wrong so i can recover. knee supports don't seem to do anything. please help

  1. maybe you over use your knee with your sport exercise without some proper after care.

have you tried yoga, pilates? they claim to be good at soothing knww and anckles problems

or some DIY foot or leg spa

  2. you might have water on the knee which it might have to be drained i have had mine for years it only triggers when i go for long walks

  3. I had a similar problem i found a knee weight to be the best thing! You may have seen them b4 but if not there about and inch wide and you put it below ur knee cap and it like velcros in back. I play volleyball so its a lot of pressure on ur knees as well but a weight fixd the problem cuz it puts some pressure in the rite spot.

  4. listen to your docter there is no quick fix for these things

unless medically qualified the advice on here is useless

see your docter and take heed

  5. Rest my good man.

From experience, don't over exert your legs because it can cause irrepairable damage.  It sounds like you are pushing yourself too much doing all that.
