Question:

What could be the cause of these terrible chest pains?

Recently I get these stabbing pains that start in my back and go straight through my heart. Sometimes it hurts so badly it takes my breath away. When I get them they last almost all day and then go away for a day or two. It's never been a problem until a few weeks ago and I would go to the doctor about it but I'm out of the country for another week.

Has anyone had a similar experience or know what this might be?

  1. maybe angina pectoris.....first attacks in heart disease.....feel pain in chest a minute....and away after take a rest.....

  2. heart attack, or acid reflux. go to the doc TOMORROW.

  3. A few months ago I was feeling something just like you described, I went to the doctor and he prescribed medicine for acid refulx. I took it for a while and it went away, and I haven't had any pains since. Lots of things can bring on acid reflux including things like chocolate and tomatoes. I don't know why I would randomly experience it and then not feel it again, but they really freaked me out at the time because it feels like pain in your heart. I'm 24 and I run 5-6 days a week. I'm really into fruits and veggies, although I have a big sweet tooth too, so in general I'm healthy which really confused me too. I've heard that there are some people who actually rush to the emergency room thinking they had a heart attack. You can get medicine over the counter and it shouldn't be very expensive. I hope you feel better soon!

  4. heart burn medicine, and eat salad for a day or two and see if it goes away, or else see a doctor, though pending on your age, its probably nothing to concern about.

  5. pick one.heartburn.hernia.heart attack......

  6. I have no idea what it could be. I would suggest you see a doctor where ever you are!

  7. Could it be stress?  This past week I was so stressed out that I was having pains similar to what you described.

  8. Ummm, if you're having chest pain like that...don't go to the doctor tomorrow...go today.  Don't think that just because you're only 20, that you can't have heart problems.  I had a heart attack at age 28..so it can happen to you.  Get it evaluated.............now.

  9. Well from my experiance they could be gas to a heart attack. Go to your doctor ASAP

  10. this used to happen to me sometimes when i would be working out and it would hurt so badly, i went to the hospital because of it. the doctor said it was because your muscles, cartilage, and bones are like a triangle and it is normally balanced and its not balanced and that's why it hurts. you can ice it, use a heating pad, or take a pain reliever like advil. feel better, hope i can help

  11. Heart attacks.  Or maybe some kind of gas.

You might be having a series of small heart attacks; maybe a main heart vessel is almost clogged.  One day soon you might get a major one that will clench you up tight and senseless and you will be dead before you hit the ground.
