  1. you do not have the ability to install some service packs and updates.  As time passes on you with have to have xp with service pack 3 in order to install newer software.  Also you are aware of the numerous holes in windows xp security, the patches help plug some of the holes for you.

  2. The hardware does not have any impact on what ever OS or legal or illegal OS that you use. If your XP is not legal, then you will not be able to download updates that MS keeps sending from time to time. Also there are chances that many new software need latest updates from MS, like MSN Messenger. Also using counterfeited software is ethically and legally wrong.

There are any way so many other options available today. Solaris, Ubuntu, Linux.

  3. None, really.  Cracked versions of Windows work pretty much identically to the real version.

  4. I agree with Vincent ! None, really. Cracked versions of Windows work  identically to the real version.

I use windows XP and Vista that I downloaded from a torrent web site,Im able to use Windows update on all of them with no problems at all !

  5. no effect with the hardware. the only downside of installing such programs is getting caught with the company (microsoft) when you connect your pc in the internet.  when you get detected, microsoft will ask you to upgrade or buy an original OS. you'll get bugged every now and then

  6. You'll never get any updates from microsoft and they might even come after you

  7. Well, there will be no effects on the hardware. However, the PC won't update or download anything from the Microsoft Corporation website, as they check our PC for illegal versions of Windows. If you install illegal Vista on a computer which had another Vista previously, it will show an odd message at startup. It will say that there is a counterfeit OS detected and you will get a chance to go to the website and buy another copy of Windows in one hour, or else the PC will shut down without warning. There will be no desktop icons or the taskbar even. But I think this thing was not actually put in Vista. I think it was changed. Go to the Wikipedia article on Vista for some interesting details.
