What could be the problem with my tv?

My tv turns on and shuts off on its own. Sometimes I have to unplug it to turn it off because it freezes on the channel I was watching and then it goes days without turning back on or sometimes it turns right back on (I guess it depends on what kind of mood it is in).

The freezing picture problem sounds like a cable or sat box. Do you use a cable or sat box and does it have a dvr (like tivo). If you do, and the tv is plugged in to the back of your box, then that could be a box problem also. Try unplugging the box for 30 seconds then plug it back in. If that works but the problem comes back, get your box swapped out for a new one from your cable company. If you don't have a box, the power problem is probably a loose connection inside the tv (I am assuming that you already checked the wire going from the outlet to the tv to make sure it's not loose or defective).

By the way, your CRT (tube) TV does not have a bulb in it.
