What could be the reason that I bruise easily?

I've been always bruising easily; however, lately I've noticed bruises on my body in most peculiar places, such as under my forearm or a small bruise on the side of my abdominal. I know for sure that I didn't bump into anything. I've been under a lot of stress lately, experiencing depression, having irregular heart beats with shortness of breath, headaches (have them forever), and sometimes I get dizzy. I cannot go to a doctor because I cannot afford it...

    Marfan Syndrome

    Other Causes of Easy Bruising:

    Aging Skin

    Bone Marrow Disorders

    Hemophilia

    Liver Disease

    Platelet Disorders (Thrombocytopenias)

Medications (both Prescription and Non-prescription, especially aspirin, NSAIDs, prednisone)

    Von Willebrand's Disease

    and Anemia

  2. Getting bruised without any blunt injury may be a serious problem.May be you may have a bleeding disorder like reduced platelet count called Thrombocytopenia. The condition you have described may be one of the Perpuras[a bleeding disorder].You can have a complete blood count and bleeding time and clotting time and platelet count done which may not be costly.Since you have got other associated symptoms I suggest you to consult your physician

  3. Easy bruisability may indicate you have a coagulation problem. To confirm this, you need to have your blood tested.

  4. I also bruise easily and I'm anemic (low iron).  My doctor told me to take iron supplements.  You can get them at any drug store or grocery store.

Also, my grandmother died of leukemia and she bruised very easily.  Go to your doctor and have bloodwork done.  It could be something serious.

  5. you may need more iron

  6. These other guys could be right about possible causes. But just for info - i had tests for all the above due to unexplained excessive bruising - and negative. However - due to a host of other probs (irregular heart, fainting, stretchy fragile skin, joint hypermobility etc) i did some online research after a prompt from a leaflet, and suggested something to my doctor. Several months later i got a formal diagnosis for Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. It's too long and complicated to go into here - so please look up the website and have a nosy and see if the symptoms apply to you! Best Wishes
