  1. I understand how you feel. It can be a serious problem or something simple like a nervous habit. Are others concerned, like your parents? Or do YOU just feel it's a problem? If it's a noticeable concern to others, talk to your parents about seeing a doctor, they can run a few simple tests that can see if you have a nervous system disorder, or if you just need some guidance in dissolving a habit. At one point I had this problem so bad that I'd laugh out loud all the time, once while talking to someone who just lost their father in death. It's a reaction out of nerves or anxiety, it's hard for others (especially strangers to understand), but it could very well be just a habit you can break with some effort & support. Don't isolate yourself though. Ask others like your friends for their support, whether it is a health issue or not, friends will understand & help you. In the mean time, enjoy laughing at the appropriate times, Concentrate on the joyous parts of your life that deserve your laughter, appreciating that you have this ability. & when you notice yourself laughing at inappropriate times, explain that it's not out of disrespect & it's just a "problem" that you are working on. Continue your "serious" conversations with this 'disclaimer', at least others will understand if you laugh at odd times & you can at least feel comfortable knowing that you at least explained why it may happen.

  2. You might be displaying what is know in psychiatry as "inappropriate affect". This can be a temporary stress reaction or long term disorder. Only a mental health professional can evaluate.

    Affect

Affect is displayed emotion. A person with flat affect does not display emotion; depressed people display sad, unhappy, affect. Psychosis is sometimes accompanied by inappropriate affect, for example by laughing when most people in the situation would be crying. Patients in the manic phase of bipolar disorder display overexcited, overoptimistic, exaggerated, affect.

    Inappropriate Affect

When a person's emotional state is not related to the situation, he/she is said to have inappropriate affect.  For example, the person may laugh in the presence of pain or suffering

  3. It's anxiety- you'd be amazed how many people suffer from this problem.  Try to work on it little by little... talk to people even when you don't have to.  Focus on what you are nervous about, and try different methods to overcome them. Don't get discouraged if at first you feel it's not working- these things take time.

Also, anti-anxiety medication might help.  I would talk to a psychiatrist.
