What could be wrong with my computer?

Question

my sound wont work but the computer shows that sound is comming out i dont think that the speakers are out because we just got the computer last summer and this has happened before and it turned out to be a virous and we have like all the protction we can get so do you think that could be it or could it be sometihng elce?

you may need to update/reinstall the drivers of your souncard, this may be a result of you installing a new program onto your computer.

The sound driver must just have been corrupted. We won't be able to know when will it be corrupted.I recommend that you will reinstall the sound card driver again.

The only way you can have "All the virus protection you can get" is to NEVER put a CD, Floppy, USB memory stick etc. into the machine, and NEVER hook it up to a phone line or internet.  If you have EVER been connected to the internet, you COULD be infected with a virus again.

If you are running norton, AVG, or panda as your antivirus and have connected directly to the internet and are using internet explorer as your web browser, and your computer is acting odd, you are LIKELY infected with something.

Try an online scan at http://www.eset.com/onlinescan

If nothing is found then:

Right click on your "my computer", go to MANAGE

on the left side, find the "hardware manager" section, click on it, on the right side, see if there are any yellow exclamation point/triangles there.  If so, your drivers for the sound card have become corrupted.  Download them from your compuer manufacturer's web site and re-install
