What could cause a car to not start once about 3 weeks ago & once 2 weeks ago, but now seems fine?

I was thinking it needed a new battery because about 3 weeks ago it didn't start, so I had it jumped & then I didn't try to drive it until the following week (about 2 weeks ago) and it needed another jump. I have been driving it almost every day since the last jump & it seems fine. Do you think I need a new battery or should have it looked at or do you think it's fine since it starts every day now? I have been driving the kids back & forth to school & want to make sure it will start because I am on crutches & it's pretty much my only way to & from their school. Thanks for any answers!!!

  1. It sounds like you need a new battery for your remote start key ring thing...

  2. It is your battery. If you let the car sit for more than i'd say 2 days then itll probably need to be jumped. If you're tight on money right at the moment just start and run the car for 5 mins everyday. This will keep the battery charged from the alternator.

It is the battery trickling out vltage though. And you will eventually need a new one. But if you let any older car (and smoe newer ones) sit for a week, chances are the battery will drain itself. You can get  a new battery and this will fix the problem for sure garaunteed.

  3. change your distributer cap it getting moisture in it

  4. yea what they said, have it checked or free.....guess I should have read them all first, lol..........also you can check the alternator yourself, when the car is started disconnect the positive (+)  battery cable from the battery, if the car dies you need a new alternator, and if after you have the battery checked if it is ok check to make sure all of the connections on the battery are tight and alot of times the cable comes loose from the starter that goes to the battery, follow the positive (+) to the other end............good luck,,,,,,,,..........did you go to the store yesterday ?

  5. its either your battery or alternator....go to any car shop and ask them for a batt/alto test, its free....

  6. take it to autozone and have the alternator and battery checked...it's a free service from them...most likely everything is fine except you may have a small drain on your battery due to a short in the electrical system... (most often in one of the light circuts)...that would explain why it starts now after repeated use
