Particularly antidepressants (SSRIs)? Other people don't seem to have experienced this, so i'm wondering whether it is something genetic or unique to my own brain that makes it so malleable. I feel like my brain cells are made of mush....i am really sensitive to psy drugs. i have had a bad reaction to almost all of them and they really screwed up my memory.

If it is not the meds, what is the cause (off all meds now), or could it be the meds that did this?

  1. psych meds.

  2. Psych meds can have those side-effects, but they aren't considered to be "brain damage" as they do not harm the structures in the brain; they just affect neurotransmitters. Once the drugs are out of one's system, the neurotransmitters again take up their dirty little (abnormal) duties.

I figure it's better to be a little dumb and have my memory affected a bit than to be crazy. At least I can compensate for the cognitive dulling by writing important things down and allowing more time to process thoughts. I haven't figured out how to manage without my meds, though!

  3. It might take some time for the meds to get out of your system.  Your mush should go away soon.....
