i've always been on the 28 day menstrual cycle- meaning my period would come every 28 days- for the past 3 months my period has been coming on the 21 day cycle- i've never had it on a 21 day cycle-

i just went to the gyneco for a yearly exam pap smear and all- and until i get the results i'll know if something is wrong down there- but the physical exam proved everything was fine-

i am wondering what would cause my cycle to change-

i have been eating more junk food rather than salads and fruits-

and i've gained like 25 Ibs this summer-

but i'm not stressed a lot- and i'm no where near sexually active- so i just don't get it?

  1. Normal cycles are spaced between 24 and 35 days apart, so this is a little out of the norm.  If it continues, you should see your doctor for an evaluation.  This could be due to many things including stress, weight gain/loss, thyroid, hormonal imbalance, infection, illness, medications, polyp, cyst, amongst other reasons.  It could be due to a slight hormonal imbalance or weight fluctuations but I would still see a doctor if this continues.

  2. Stress even worry about things whether we are aware of it or not can normally cause your periods to be thrown off. And yes what you eat can too! Mine where pretty regular up till age 38 then they started getting weird. Now I am 40 and have not had a period in 5 months. Then again I am heavy and on thyroid meds. I am curious what is up with that? It is possible to hit early menopause at 40. Doctor said I need to see a gynecologist to see if there is anything abnormal with that. Just to make sure nothing is there.
