Question:

What could cause my throat to sell up for no reason?

My throat swells every now and then, not too frequently but at least one to three times a year.

I am a creature of habit, I do not eat or drink new things and when these occurrences happen I usually am not eating or drinking anyhow.

My doctor says he doesn't know why it would happen and says he may send me to an ear, nose and throat specialist if it happens again.

It tends to stay on the right side of my throat.

It causes it to be complicated for me to swallow and breathe and lasts about five to fifteen minutes and then it is over.

What could be causing this?

  1. I would bet my head and not be scared of losing it that it is related to medication or food. A friend of mine had an allergic reaction to a medication she had been taking for over a year. My cousin who used to eat pickles almost daily had a severe allergic reaction after many many months of eating them the conditions they and you experience are life threatening.  I would go see or suggest to my doctor going to see what medications or foods you are allergic to. Please don't wait for it to happen again. I do wish you well.
