What could cause slow downloading of internet files?

You downloading files would not be affected by the number of people on the internet simultaneously. There are alot of factors that will affect the speed you download at, such as your bandwith, the provider's bandwidth, the number of people simultaneously accessing the provider, and how many browser windows you have open, etc etc.

yes. or that your computer doesnt have a lot of space in it, or that you have a virus etc etc
