  1. In my house I've noticed this when I'm standing on the first floor above where the furnace sits in the basement. There are also some places where the heater vents tend to direct air which can create a warm spot (or a cold spot if the air conditioner is running). In addition, while not specific spots, some rooms stay warmer or cooler than others just due to their location in the house (e.g., on a wall with southern exposure) and the peculiarities of the ventilation system.

And of course, just above the stove is a real warm spot :)

  2. Is this happen during the day or night time? If during the day the sun could be warming the indoor air by heating up some type object making the surroundings air to be hotter than the air away from the object.

  3. f**t?

  4. If only we could spray-paint the invisible, to make it visible!

  5. This is a stretch of a comparison, but... on a hot day, we go for a ride in the car. Windows up, air conditioner on, streaming not at but past you. Oh, there is the street, make a right here!

Did you notice the wind from the vents tries to keep going straight when the car is turning? So that is possibly caused by a law of the conservation of momentum, or something... The point is the earth is turning. As it does, a Foucault pendulum will knock down the pegs...

there maybe eddies, like in a river, where air currents just wind slowly around themselves, and don't circulate much. That's my thoughts on the issue,

Test: put a wind chime there, or origami on floss.

  6. flatulence

  7. Dunno... though a few years ago (late fall-early winter) I was sitting in this chilly computer room and then out of nowhere for just a moment I felt a brush of warm air across my cheek. I mean like breath-warm.

I was hoping the heat had come on and leaned over twice to try to listen for air coming from the vent, thinking I felt a draft. But because of the computer cabinet and the angle, I can't feel that and besides...the vent was quiet and cold.

I just sat back up and thought "now what was that??" Or who? lol
