Just think of this in an extreme case of the mind controlling the body.

Cybernetics. Or, possibly, genetic manipulation.

Or an alien ray that gives all of us super strength _and_ turns us all into mindless killers at the same time so that we destroy ourselves more quickly and they move in and take our resources with a minimum of effort.

That depends on your definition of super powers. Genetic make up may only determine natural abilities that makes you superior than others. Take a look at Lance Armstrong. His cardiovascular system and respiratory system are, freakish and allow him to be a better athlete than anyone else

Adrenaline(rush) may give you ,temporary enhanced abilities to be inhuman.

Chemical mutation and genetic mutation work as well.

You can also get high, youl'll think ur spiderman or somethin.

but yes it's all about the genes.   A different structure in your genes could make someone's skin more resilient and tougher more impenetrable than it is now.

Radioactivity is always popular. How about falling into a vat of toxic waste? (lol) But if a human were born with a certain mutation in their genes, then perhaps that could give them a superpower—nothing fancy like being psychic or reading minds, but something such as heat vision or super speed.
