the Iranians would kick their bagel eating arses!! and about time!!! I am sick of the Israelis going on about the Holocaust when they murder innocent people every day, I know the terroists get killed, and that is fair game, but innocent kids, reporters.. NOT ON, but they are backed up by the Yanks, so what can you do?!

Israel=advanced military, top in the region, Air Force that rivals U.S.'s.

Iran=a few missiles, primitive everything else, stubborn fury.

The goal is to keep Iran from gaining a nuclear weapon.  They have vowed to wipe Israel off the map, and the Israelis are not going to roll the dice on this one.  However, they are not going to invade.  It will be an air campaign to destroy above ground facilities, with commandos being sent in to destroy the underground facilities.  Iran would be stupid to retaliate so I doubt there will be further escalation however....

                            ~If it does escalate~

Iran could close Strait of Hormuz, and launch missiles at Tel Aviv, and perhaps troops in Iraq.  The U.S. navy would take control of the Strait, as Israeli planes bomb missile launchers and military sites.  Civilians in Iran should not be targets unless Israel becomes desperate to end the barrage (Israel has the Arrow Missile Defense System, one of the best in the world, and Iran's missiles are extremely in accurate {1 km range of accuracy} ). Gas will go through the roof, and Russia coiuld threaten to join, which would end it right there.  We would not let it escalate to a regional war.  Russian involvement however, is unlikely, due to their poor and vulnerable economy.  

My prediction?  Israel, with US Navy, vs. Iran with Hezbollah launching rockets.  Perhaps hamas doing the same.  However, I doubt any of the 3 will do anything drastic, fearing Israeli backlash and military might.

The US would rush to help their ally then try and gather MORE of our troops to go fight another war we shouldn't be involved in.

Russia would now get involved against the USA and we would be in a cold war with them..again.
