somehow I don't think you'd get a village for $10, not even a small part of one

but you could buy a very nice sari, maybe not a silk one but a good quality one anyway

India is not as inexpensive as it used to be. Believe it or not, $10 equivalent is Rs. 4200 or so, which is not a while lot of money nowadays there.

I suggest if you are visiting India, to pick up locally made Sandalwood artifacts which are still available within that range, small ones though. We have some good one which we picked up from India.

I got like 5 saris for 10 bucks there, but that was 10 years ago.  You might be able to get some silver ankle bracelets or toe rings like all the women there wear.  You can get quite a lot for $10 if you go shopping in a market area.

$ = 410 rupees 1. you can browse internet for Rs.10 per hr and see www.tourbharat.blogspot.com and if u still fell doing something then probably with Rs. 400 you can spend a day in India including 3 meals.
