What could it be,I was driving my car and i put it into drive when I noticed the shifter kept sliding. Then ?

going out my car would'nt get out of first gear! Stopped the car and put it in park but it just kept going forward!! Now I go to turn it on and the dam thing would'nt START!! It's an auto matic Ford Tauras. Any idea what this could be?

it sounds like the shift linkage to the transmission is out of adjustment or broken. i cannot tell you where nor can i answer how to fix it without seeing the car. i do hope that the solution is a simple one and cheap.

hi.. have someone move the shifter back and forth and you look under the hood at the transmission.. i mean the cable could be broken..or came loose/off.. and just have a party along with it.. enjoy
