My friend was about to walk my dog on the leash yesterday. The dog ran away. He came back a few hours later, he looked fine. No dirt on him. He was painting for 10 minutes with his tongue out his mouth. He didn't want a treat. He was just laying on his side sleeping for hours. I took him out to potty one last time. I didn't notice anything wrong. This morning I woke up and he was limping. He also keeps lifting up his paw. I took him to the vet. They said he looked fine, and gave him a tooth cleaning. What could of happened? He's 2 years old.

  1. while running he probaly stepped on something or tripped ... he'll be alright ..... probaly got some while he was out  ; )

  2. I lot of things could have happened to him, like getting picked up by animal control, hit by a car, or worse, alot of ignorant people fear pitbulls for their reps...you need to be more careful...As what could have happened to him health wise he is probably sore and scared!!

  3. He probably just Sprained His paw. If the vet said He`s fine He is. He sounds healthy, He probably just strained it a little while He was running around. I think that little Escape wore him out a little bit, He`s fine.

  4. He was probably running the whole time he was gone.  That's why he was panting and tired when he returned.  His muscles may have been sore the next day from the exercize...  kinda like how if you do some kind of exercize that you're not used to, you will be sore the next day.

  5. Is he neutered? If he's not, he may have caught the scent of a female in heat and took off running. He may have sprained his paw or pulled a muscle, maybe even broken a nail.

If your vet says he's fine, then I would just concentrate on keeping him off of the paw and relaxing him. If he seems as if he's in intense pain, call your vet or an emergency vet and ask what dosage of baby aspirin would be appropriate to give him.

  6. sound to me like he was dehydrating and needed water but as for his limping he probally steped on something sharp _______ did you look in between his pads of his feet to see if maybe hes got a cut or somethings in there??????
