Romance and all its strategy

Leaves me battling with my pride

But through the insecurity

Some tenderness survives

I'm just another writer

Still trapped within my truth

A hesitant prize fighter

Still trapped within my youth

from Dan Hill's Sometimes When We Touch

  1. The speaker is torn and clearly challenged by doubts borne upon by distractions or outside forces that create perceived uncertainties.  He is justifying his actions, though, afraid his "pride" is misunderstood for something else.  Settled in his position ("survives"), still he is gripped by fear - perhaps healthy but nonetheless gnawing - as all true lovers are.

  2. So true for the "romantic but hesitant to fall in love because I am afraid to be vulnerable" me.

Romance does has a way of getting past my defenses but then my pride just won't let me succumb to the feeling.

    'nough said.  Ha ha!  :P

  3. kinda difficult to translate girl... :(

  4. a hopelessly desperado

  5. "Lambingan at lahat niyang galaw

    Iniiwan akong kabaka'y ang dangal

    Ngunit tagos ng pag-aagam agam

    Buhay pa rin konting pagmamahal.

Isa lang akong isa pang makata

    Nabibitag sa loob ng katotohanan

    Isang alangang mandirigma

    Sa Bitag ng kanyang kabataan."

I'd say the man is groping in the dark, and fumbling through inexperience.   Let him come with me to the secret remaining places in Marikina,  and I shall arrange for some goddesses to give him lessons.
