My mouth is very painful right now. My gums in the lower front are swollen and red. There is also two little white puss like patches at the bottom. I am in a lot of pain and it feels like my gums are swelling up. What could this be?

  1. Sounds like it could be 1 of 2 thing.

They could possibly just be canker sores, which people can commonly get on there gum, they will cause the area around the sore to swell slight and be bright red, they may just look round and white in appearance. If they are cankerous rinse your mouth with some salt water twice daily until there gone, it should only take a couple of days.

It could also be abscesses which is in infection in the root of the tooth, when the infection has no place to go it will make an opening in the gum, for which puss can leak out, if this were the case the area would be very painful and swollen, and you may also have a bad taste in your mouth, along with facial swelling

  2. It could be Herpes I virus (also known as cold sores).  My son was infected by someone who kissed him when he was a baby and his entire mouth was in pain with puss like patches also.  His pediatrician did a mouth culture and it can back as Herpes I.  You may want to go see a doctor right away because they can diagnose it and give you some kind of medicine that will cause you to not have more outbreaks in the future (only if you catch it in the early stages though).
