What could this mean??

so today i went to leave an application for a job i wanted and when i talked to the manager she told me this, "we will start hiring for the holiday season," and im not sure what this means. does she mean that their only gonna hire me for the holiday season and then fire me? or is will i be able to stay there?

  1. they will hire you for the holiday season and they could fire you after or they can keep you. the way to says to to do a great job in the holiday season that way they want to keep you after the holiday


  2. It doesn't mean you'll get fired, but there's a chance you'll be let go once the holiday season is over.  Sometimes they'll hire you for the holiday season and if you're a good employee they'll keep you on as a permanent employee.  

  3. A lot of companies add extra staff during the holiday season.  These positions are usually temporary and come with the understanding that the positions will be eliminated after the holiday season.  However, it's a good way to get your foot in the door and prove yourself.  If you do a great job for them, they may consider you for a longer term assignment.  So the answer to your question is 1) yes, they are telling you that the intent is to hire only temporarily and 2) You may or may not be able to stay there depending on the company's needs and your performance.  You can always ask about the opportunity for longer term employment during the interview too.
